This lawn was fully repaired following the lawn renovation steps. The lawn had fallen into a poor state where the ‘lawn’ had become more weeds than grass.
The selective weed killer treatment did its job and controlled all the weed content. Followed by heavily scarifying to remove the vegetation allowed the area to be aerated, top-dressed, reseeded and then fertilised.
Helped along by some watering using a lawn sprinkler and 7 weeks later the new lawn took shape. This lawn is now being cared for with the Gold Maintenance Plan to keep the lawn in great condition.

Lawn Care Services Essex FAQ
Why do I need to scarify and what is it?
Scarifying is a process usually undertaken with a machine which has blades which enter the grass canopy vertically. The blades reach in amongst the leaves of your grass and pulls out dead and decaying organic matter called thatch.
Thatch is the build up of dead organic material such as grass clippings which accumulates on the surface of the soil and the base of your lawn. Reducing thatch will encourage a healthy growth habit for healthier stronger grass. This will improve airflow and improve surface drainage which will reduce the potential for disease, allowing water and nutrients into the soil, achieving a healthier lawn for all year round quality.
My lawn is wet/waterlogged can you help?
Yes, firstly a soil analysis will determine any remediation work that is required, such as aeration or topdressing to improve drainage. Improved drainage and soil structure will improve the fertility and microbial activity of the soil, which will allow grass to grow healthy and strong.
My lawn is covered in moss and weeds. Can you help?
Yes! this is a very common problem for a lot of lawns.
Our renovation service contains moss and weed treatments which destroys the offending plants, which are then removed by scarifying. The lawn will undergo other treatments depending on your bespoke plan but will be re seeded at the end. This allows your new grass to take back control over the moss and weeds.
The key to having a great attractive lawn is using high quality grass seed from professional grass seed producers. A high quality seed mix will contain variances called cultivars, these are bred specifically to help combat the pressures of different growing environments, such as shade or drought.
How do I grow the lawn after the renovation?
A high quality pre seed fertiliser will be applied to give the new seed the quickest possible establishment, the young plant will require the correct nutrition needed to establish quickly and mature into a strong healthy lawn.
The top rules are to keep the seed damp in hot conditions until its established and to keep off the new seed for the first two weeks until the young seed shoot has emerged.
A renovation aftercare document will be sent to you after the renovation.
I think my lawn is unrepairable and needs to be returfed. Is this the case?
Every lawn can be repaired. As part of the renovation we offer, the soil is also managed which is crucial for any grass to grow.
Due to my previous experience as a groundsman I have a wealth of experience of growing grass from seed, this is what each football club do every year to all of their pitches as it is the most cost effective way, and allows for a greater quality of grass surface.
